Don’t things smell good when you dry them outside? You can try tumbling them in the dryer with no heat for about 10 minutes to soften them up. That might work.

Makes me want to do my part and have a clothes line in the back yard for something other than wet suits. Ahhhh the memories of growing up with a clothes line out behind the garage. I think Janet is on to something with the no heat tumble to soften up the towels - maybe I will try that. Although a good stiff towel is nice when you have itchy skin!

I so wish I was allowed to dry our clothes outside! I’m lucky to get away with being able to dry K’s dipes though. Good for you guys saving some $!

I’d like to say that “Going Green” was the main drive behind our new cleaning decisions. But it is not. It only has about 45% to do with the decision. The other 55% is money. And heat. I have chosen to relish in this 100 degree weather and use it to my advantage….

I have been hanging our clothes up to dry. You know that its not a “green” choice because I still use the same soap as I did before. The same stuff that makes your kitchen towels (which I dont use softener with) stand straight up after taking them off the line. HA! You got all excited thinking this post would be how our adorable kids like to frolic in the clean laundry. You thought I’d be typing something like “Wheres Neela? You cant see her cause shes holding up that cardboard towel!” But no. Its only about the cardboard towels. And pants.

Anywho, I have been thinking a lot about this new “idea” of mine to dry our clothes outside. To “air our laundry” if you will. I do have to comfort our neighbors and let them know that unmentionables will never be aired on the line. For those I will wait after midnight to run in the dryer. Since we have no air conditioning and Ethan and I have both been sick with the “Holy crap I’m gonna puke….”’s then heat isnt such a nice visitor to have in our home. So we only run the dish washer, dryer or shower at early am or very late pm. This helps keep better control of the climate as well as our elec. bills. Although we run the fans 24/7 so maybe it isnt saving us money, just not adding to the bill. Either way, I like the clothes line. It forces me to get outside and feel the sun at least a few times during the day. Neela and Elliott are usually running around playing tag and Roland is either on my hip or on a blanket playing with a few toys. The whole thing is quite picturesque and romantic. All we need is a farm house, aprons, and land as far as the eye can see.

As you frequenters know, I have dabbled with getting back into photography, but I feel a little over shadowed by the many great artist around me, so I dont show my stuff very often. But I gotta show you my yard even though they are amateur shots, I still had fun with all the lines and directions. I have 3 lines out.(You can see all three in this pic. 2 of them meet right at that light colored planks on the fence)

I can rotate them pretty well. By the time the third one is filled, the first line is almost dry. I think it might actually be faster than using the dryer! At least on Towel and Bedding laundry day.
