We had a few visitors in our yard today.
Arent they just the cutest balls of fluffy fluff that ever fluffed??? It really did take some restraint to not pick one up. Anyway, This was a cool surprise. I still have no idea how this little family got into our yard in the first place. There are no holes along the ground or between any slats in the gate large enough for even the chicks to fit through. With the help of our awesome neighbor, we reunited a lost chic AND dug a hole so they could hop out into the ravine with their momma. It was exciting and so cute to see em all just chirp and follow. Kinda hit home with my own house full of little ones so close in age. anyway….maybe they will come back to visit and eat our bread that Elliott was pelting at them. I finally had to take the bread away. He wanted to help so much.

We also have a momma and a daddy who have taken to our porch. (Can you see Momma’s tail stickin up on the right?) They made a nest up there while we were gone for a long weekend a few weeks ago, and have not yet come to trust us to even be 6 feet from her nest let alone actually walk through our front door. The other day momma bird spooked so bad when she heard the gate close that when she jumped out, she dropped her VERY fresh baby out of the nest. Luckily I had just thrown our kitchen rug (folded in half) out right there. I hope baby landed on it before landing on the ground. I Grabed our longest handled spoon and scooped him up, and put him back in after momma was braving our pressence to check on her baby constantly. I grabbed the latter and placed him back in. hopeing i kept enough distance from the nest and baby that i didnt scare the momma off with that stench that is my smell. Luckily she has been comig back, but I havent been hearing any chirping from the nest yet. that doesnt suprise me though, cause that baby was very fresh out of the egg just a few days ago. Anyway
IT'S ME
aaawwwww we had baby ducks up here the other day at work.. the mama got squished on the road so the babies were all walking around her. Someone stopped and scooped them up. We didn’t have animal control on duty so they brought them up to us and someone took them home. I got to babysit… it was fun… they were soooo soft!!
