Meet Elmer. Hes a lovable patchwork elephant I made for Roland. If you’ve read the book, give a lil shout. Its a cute one. It was his gift from santa this year along with a stocking full of goodies.
This is just to get you all by till we have a second to do a proper update. These were taken by my mom last week in CA over Christmas vacation. Enjoy!

On one hand, I cant believe its already been a month. On the other hand… you mean he wasn’t here all along?

3:07 pm UPDATE #1
Carol is having regular contractions and everything looks great. Poppy is hanging out at our place with the kids and having a blast. We’re moving to the birthing room in a couple of minutes. We’ll update ASAP.
By the way, Happy Birthday, Carol!
(more updates below…)

5:10 pm UPDATE #2
We’re now in the birthing room. Carol is getting an antibiotic IV, but just as a precaution. There’s no signs of any problems. It took them four tries to find a vein, yipes! I gave her a blessing and it felt great. Her contractions have slowed slightly (every 4 minutes instead of every 2), but they are getting stronger. Roland is still moving like crazy and that’s a great sign.
I think we’re going to go for another stroll.

6:53 pm UPDATE #3
The contractions are now only three minutes apart, but no broken water. The first round of antibiotics are in and the second is being delivered. If Carol’s water hasn’t broken by the time the second round is done, they’ll break it for her and get it going. We really want to have this baby today. Carol said,
“If we have Roland on my birthday, I can cross it off my list. Have baby, check!”
Here’s our view from the birthing room. We’re off for another few laps around the building.

7:54 pm UPDATE #4
We’re down to two minutes apart and getting stronger. We’ve been walking laps around the third floor. We met Dr. Johnson who will be delivering Roland. He’s young and reminds of of Todd, which is great. Here’s the official plan: At 8:30, they will start the second IV drip and break Carol’s water. After that, labor should come quickly.
The contractions are getting much, much stronger now. You guys would be so proud of Carol. She is the toughest person I know. When the contraction starts, she’ll say, “Just keep walking, just keep walking…”
We’re back in the room now and have to stay here. That means we’re stuck watching celebrity gossip shows. Guh. No wonder we got rid of our TV.

9:02 pm UPDATE #5
This will be the last update, guys. Carol’s water is broken and the contractions are picking up fast. Carol just told Roland, “I’m evicting you, get out!”
I’m going to hold her hand now.

There is so much to update you all on! I imagine the thought process is a lot like this…. “Geez, did they die? Has Roland shown up yet, and THATS why they dropped off the face of the earth?†Or maybe its more like “Why don’t they update anymore? Do they hate me?†no no no. Rest assured we hate none of you. We are all still alive, and Roland is not here yet, Grrrr…. We haven’t updated much because - well- this move has REALLY sucked our energy. We are energy-less. We have LOTS of good pictures and videos to come, and we will be as quick as we can with posting. Please continue to be patient and enjoy our website once again. I am going to make this entry live at the top of the entry list for a few days just to let people know what’s goin on, so don’t get discouraged if you see it here in two days - just scroll down to the newest entry.

Yep, this baby is still baking. I have been measuring “full-term†for the last 3 weeks and have had contractions for the same amount of time on a consistent basis, but they just don’t get stronger. So it has been a LONG few weeks. I am so used to them now I don’t feel em anymore unless they really take me off my feet.

FINALLY - a baby update. Here is a picture from 19 weeks, then just a few days ago - a month later. (more…)
